I graduated from Leeds Dental School in 2011 and worked as an associate in a successful dental practice, but behind the scenes, infertility was quietly breaking me. At 27, I started trying for a baby only to face a year of worry, NHS tests, and the crushing diagnosis of “unexplained infertility.” Then, at 30, an early miscarriage stole the future I’d dared to imagine.

I poured myself into healing: weekly acupuncture, mindful mornings, every clean meal a prayer for conception. Month after month of negative tests taught me how to hold hope when it hurt, how to keep going when surrender felt like the only option. In the silence between heartbeats, I found a strength I never knew I had.

IVF abroad in the Czech Republic became my next step. The first cycle failed, and I sobbed in a clinic bathroom, certain I’d reached my limit. But on the second try, at 33, my son Kian arrived, a miracle that proved the fight was worth it. Just 10 weeks later, a natural conception brought Jaiden, my second son, at 34.

Motherhood didn’t just heal me, it changed everything. I saw how medicine treats the body but often forgets the heart, the 3 a.m. panic, the ache of another baby shower invite.
